Soil Key is a permitted waste receiving and composting facility. All of our composting is done on 97+ acres near the Grand Mound exit along I-5 in Thurston County, Washington.
Soil Key is fully permitted and authorized by the Thurston County Health Department to operate the facility described above and observes the guidelines for composting from the Department of Ecology. Composting is accomplished by using the “aerated static pile” method to achieve the time and temperature requirements for vector and pathogen reduction. Final composting takes place in 6 to 8 weeks with proper mixing and turning.
Soil Key is a member of the U. S. Composting Council and participates in the “Seal of Testing Assurance” program. The STA program is the only nationally recognized compost specific testing and labeling program. It identifies a composter who seeks to establish and maintain the highest standards in quality control, product testing, and information disclosure.
Soil Key has two pre-engineered Cover-All
TM buildings that are engineered to withstand rated wind and snow loads. The balanced design ensures structural integrity with maximum strength in a clear-span design.
